NBA Detroit Pistons and Medical Weight Loss Clinic Host "Be Fit" Assembly Video
NBA Be Fit School Assembly with Medical Weight Loss Center and Pistons Tayshaun Prince
Detroit Piston Tayshaun Prince and Strength and Conditioning Coach Arnie Kander are joining Medical Weight Loss Clinic to address childhood obesity by delivering an interactive "Be Fit" assembly to 400 students at Vandenberg World Cultures Academy, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Prince and Kander will demonstrate fitness techniques and discuss how to maintain a healthy diet. Pistons dance team Automotion and Palace Patrol will also perform and students will be awarded prizes based on answering Pistons health trivia questions. This event is in conjunction with NBA FIT Live Healthy Week, which tipped off on Tuesday, Jan. 4 and continues through Jan. 12. During this week, all 30 teams and their players join community members and partners to highlight the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle through grassroots programs and events, special oncourt apparel, in-arena health screenings and online programming.
Vandenberg World Cultures Academy is located at 16100 Edwards Avenue, Southfield, MI 48076.
Vandenberg World Cultures Academy students kindergarten through eight will experience an interactive assembly orchestrated by Year-Round Hoops Director Aaron Smith. The Pistons selected Vandenberg World Cultures Academy because of the various health initiatives the school provides students including implementing fresh fruits and vegetables for lunches and developing an after-school cooking class that allows students to conduct research on nutritional facts and calorie intake. Additionally, five other pre-identified schools in Michigan that incorporated similar health programs have been invited to The Palace to receive in-arena recognition during January Pistons games.
Concierge health-care delivers medical perks for the price
For patients who complain about a lack of face time with their doctors, concierge healths care sounds pretty appealing. If you can afford a physician's retainer fee, it's an attractive healths care model for both doctors and patients. Patients benefit from around-the-clock access to their doctor, house calls, near-immediate appointment access, flexible scheduling outside traditional office hours and personalized service, according to myMD, which provides retainer-based medical care.
